SUNNYVALE, CA, April 15, 2002 - Shoreline Communications, a developer of enterprise-class IP PBX systems, today announced support for industry standard MGCP IP phones. The Shoreline4 release will combine the system reliability of the Shoreline architecture with the benefits of standards-based IP phones. The new release will give existing Shoreline customers the ability to deploy MGCP IP phones across their system when and where they see fit, without the complexity and availability issues common with other legacy PBX and LAN telephony systems.
"Shoreline is committed to interoperability based on industry standards," commented Thomas van Overbeek, president and CEO of Shoreline Communications. "With the Shoreline system, enterprises can now leverage the benefits of standards-based interoperability in their voice systems. Closed legacy PBX architectures will go the way of the closed computing architectures of twenty years ago for the same reasons."
With the Shoreline4 AnyPhone feature, users will have the capability to take command of any phone within the enterprise, regardless of signaling protocol, model or location.
The new Shoreline4 IP phone system will be deployed at the Networld+Interop InteropNet Event Network (eNet) May 5-10, 2002 in Las Vegas. The eNet is a fully redundant, highly reliable 12,000 node, state-of-the-art network, built in just four days to demonstrate the latest breakthroughs in networking. Shoreline4 will support both analog and IP phones for the network, which -for the first time- will also provide dial tone for Key 3 Media Show operations.
"At NetWorld+Interop 2002 Las Vegas we will further our VoIP commitment by deploying Shoreline Communication's technology beyond our own production environment," according to Steve Wylie, director of content for NetWorld+Interop . "For the first time we will also be making VoIP service available to members of the media, conference attendees and the event production team."
